From menarche to menopause women are rarely prepared for the changes that they will experience as they mature. For many women, menopause sounds like a slice of heaven with the end of monthly periods. However, things on the ground can be very different. If women are not adequately prepared what were meant to be her golden years, can end up seeming like a horrible valley in the journey.
Menopause is more than just the pause in menstruation, it is the physical, emotional, psychosocial changes that occur in a woman. It affects more than just a woman’s budget for menstrual hygiene products, it affects her sleep and productivity as well.
For many women, these changes can be very frustrating and they can hit them very hard. What affects a woman affects the society as a whole, yet there is very limited information on how to handle this transition.
Menopause Talks Kenya was founded to fill this gap and provide a space and place for women to get factual information and to get support from other women who have walked ahead of them, or are walking with them.
The sessions are intimate sessions that cover different topics related to Menopause and allow women to be educated, empowered and supported.
In 2019, there were two events in Mombasa that covered:
- An overview on Menopause and Peri-menopause
- Menopause and Diet
Menopause is not a reserve for women over 50, women in their thirties can get in to peri-menopause.
We look forward to having more conversations around menopause in 2020, if you would like to join in on the conversation or get support, please reach out to us via email@example.com or 0746-622-833.
